Lin's inspiration came after having her first daughter, wanting to craft a snack that would be both healthy and accessible, especially for children with snacking restrictions in and out of classrooms. Popcorn, known to be a choking hazard for young children, prompted them to create a safer alternative.
What sets Like Air apart is its distinctive texture. According to Lin, it "kind of melts in your mouth like air," making it different from other puffed corn snacks in the market. Unlike crunchier alternatives, such as Pirate's Booty, Like Air is designed to be enjoyed by snackers of all ages, from six months to 106 years old, without the worries or restrictions associated with traditional popcorn.
Unlike some puffed corn snacks on the market, Like Air takes pride in using natural ingredients, steering clear of unhealthy additives like MSG and artificial flavors. This makes it a safe choice for those with dietary restrictions. With four delightful flavors—classic (reminiscent of buttered movie-theater popcorn), white cheddar, pancake, and cinnamon bun—each cup of Like Air packs flavor at just 50 calories. The sweet varieties are allergen-free and produced in a nut-free facility. Additionally, the snack is non-GMO, certified kosher, and gluten-free.
Originally launching a few weeks before the pandemic, Like Air initially found its home on Amazon. However, as the summer of 2020 unfolded, it made its way into stores. ShopRite became the first retailer in New Jersey to offer this innovative snacking experience.
