This weekend and throughout the week, a group of officers will be guiding traffic not only on Pima Road but also on the smaller roads within WestWorld, such as South Road, Polo Field Way, and WestWorld Way. These roads tend to get congested quickly, so there will be more signs for drivers to follow.
As alcohol will be available for purchase, the Scottsdale Police's DUI Taskforce is taking extra measures. A DUI taskforce truck will be present, and more officers will be stationed around WestWorld to discourage impaired driving.
For those planning to attend the auction, Sgt. Allison Sempsis from Scottsdale reminds everyone of the clear bag policy. "For Barrett-Jackson and the WMPO, we just ask that it’s clear bags, that’s a part of their policy. Don’t bring your big purses in or anything like that. It has to be in a clear bag, and it has to be seen," she explained. The bag cannot exceed 12'' x 6'' x 12'', and a clear gallon bag is acceptable.
Certain items are not allowed inside, including weapons, video cameras, skateboards, drones, coolers, and animals (except for service animals assisting guests with disabilities).
With thousands of people attending this global event, Sgt. Sempsis advises attendees to be prepared and ensure a safe experience. "Just like any other big event, make sure you’re prepared to arrive before or drive safely, lock your doors, don’t leave valuables in your car, make sure you stay hydrated," she recommended.
If you encounter any issues or lose track of your group, officers and security teams will be present throughout WestWorld to assist you. Medical teams will also be onsite.
Barrett-Jackson will run from January 20 to January 28.
